Spring and Summer 2016 Oxcombe Pottery Workshops 

  Participants will learn the following skills during 8 week courses:

 Introduction to Hand building Course

• Slump moulding

• Tile making

• Coiling

• Slab building

• Decoration techniques

Introduction to Throwing Course

• Throwing a cylinder

• Throwing a bowl

• Turning and adding handles

• Throwing a plate

• Throwing lids, mugs, jugs

By the end of the courses, participants will have made a series of experimental pieces and also have the chance to choose one or more methods to explore further in the final two weeks.

4 week mini course

making boxes and bowls, coiling and hand building                                                           

2 hour taster session

making tiles and experimenting with surface treatment techniques                

Private lessons

Sessions will be led by two experienced ceramic artists:

Monday-Wednesday: Charlotte Lauriston-Norris
Charlotte has a BA (Hons) in Ceramics & Glass from The University of Sunderland and has worked internationally as a teacher of ceramics.

Thursday-Saturday: Nicki Jarvis
Nicki has a BA (Hons) in Ceramics from the University of the West of England and is experienced in leading pottery workshops.
