Regular classes take place between Tuesday and Saturday. You are welcome to join us at any time during the year.
New starters sign up for a term of between 5 and 7 weeks; we follow the local authority timetable which varies. You can then renew for further terms for as long as you wish. Some of our attendees have been with us for years!
If you wish to join us click here to provide your details and availability. Sometimes our classes are full but you will be added to our waiting list. This gives our regular attendees a range of additional benefits, including priority bookings and discounts for events and experiences.
The studio is a welcoming space, with a log fire in winter and lots of natural light in summer. We have numerous pottery wheels as well as all the other resources required for making, including electric kilns, a raku kiln and a gas-fired reduction kiln.
Group sizes are kept at 10 people maximum, and usually many of the group are engaged in developing their own practice having learned all the key techniques. This means that new starters get special support as they explore what is possible in clay. We high fire to stoneware temperature, so that your finished work is highly durable and frost-proof. If you make domestic ware it will also be safe for use in the oven and microwave as well as in the freezer and dishwasher.
We teach the basics of pottery – handbuilding, throwing, decorating and glazing – at the same time encouraging individual experimentation. We recognise that some participants come with prior experience and others come with none. We aim to meet you where you are and help you develop the skills to create work that you are proud of.
