Our Programme

This autumn 2017, the first term runs from Tuesday 5 September to Saturday 21 October and the second term runs from Tuesday 31 October to Saturday 16 December. See our timetable for further information about session dates. You are welcome to join us at any time during the year!

Each participant has the opportunity to learn the following skills during their initial term (usually 6 or 7 weeks).

 Introduction to Hand building

• Slump moulding

• Tile making

• Coiling

• Slab building

• Decoration techniques

Introduction to Throwing

• Throwing a cylinder

• Turning pots and adding handles

• Throwing lids, mugs, jugs

By the end of the first courst, participants will have made a series of experimental pieces and seen these through the two-part firing and glazing process.

Once your first course is complete, you are welcome to sign up for subsequent terms. Having mastered the basics we support your creative development whilst you develop the areas that most interest you.

Sessions cost £7 per hour.* Sessions last either two or three hours, depending on the day / timing.

*To keep session costs down we charge an additional 1p per gram of fired (finished) work when you take it home.

Just want to try pottery out for size?

We offer a two hour taster session on the first Saturday (afternoon) of every month.

In this fun session you have the chance to try out throwing and also make a handbuilt piece (for instance a decorative tile). We will fire your piece before collection.

Taster sessions cost £30 per person and includes your two pieces of finished work.
