Artist Residency with Laura Andrew

Established wildlife artist Laura Andrew took over the Cowshed Barn for a four-week residency on 10 June. We were delighted to host this new venture, which arose out of Laura’s participation in our Art & Ceramics Exhibition in September 2022.

Making the most of the natural landscape and mature gardens at Oxcombe, Laura has been working plein air to create new work that captures the natural beauty of this hidden spot in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Laura has also shared her skills through two masterclass events in Still Life Oil Painting and Floral Watercolour. As one participant commented: ‘Laura was a great tutor, please book her again!’

Art of Outstanding Natural Beauty Exhibition

The Cowshed Barn will be transformed into a gallery for the final stage of Laura’s residency, the exhibition named in celebration of this protected and picturesque designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in its 50th year. From Saturday 24 June to Sunday 2 July, the work made by Laura during her residency, together with larger-scale artworks created in her Lincoln studio, will be on exhibition and available to buy. Laura spends much of her time in the field, sketching and observing, and creates atmospheric oils and watercolours of birds and other wildlife as well as floral still lifes and landscapes. Laura will be in attendance every day of the exhibition and you will be able to chat about her work and inspiration.

As well as visiting the exhibition, visitors are welcome to visit the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB exhibition in Oxcombe Church and enjoy spending time in this tranquil setting.

The exhibition is open from 10am – 3pm each day. For further details about visiting Oxcombe please go to our Find Us page.
