Accessibility at Oxcombe

We welcome people of all abilities and will do our best to accommodate any special needs you may have. Personal assistants and assistance dogs are also welcome.

Please be aware that Oxcombe is a working farm, and that our event spaces are re-purposed historic buildings.

Level Access

There is level access into all our activity spaces, doorways are min 78cm wide.

Most of our routes are paved with slabs, but car park areas have a gravel surface.

The washroom in the Top Studio has level access. However, the washrooms adjacent to the Crewyard and Cowshed Barn have two steps and may require our wooden ramp.

Washrooms

The washroom in the Top Studio is fitted with handrails and an alarm cord.

The washrooms near the Crewyard and Cowshed Barn are currently not fitted with handrails/alarm.

Hearing

Oxcombe does not currently have hearing loops installed. Please let us know if you are hard of hearing / Deaf and may need additional support, as the spaces can get noisy with excited chatter!

Visual

The event spaces at Oxcombe are well-lit with natural light plus ceiling lights. One side of each building has floor to ceiling glazing.

Seating

The Top Studio and Crewyard use high stools (typically used in school science labs). If this is unsuitable we can provide a lower table and chair with back.

The Cowshed Barn has refectory-style tables and benches, we typically use this space for event lunches.

We use freestanding, hardback plastic/metal chairs for our conference events. Please ask if you need other support.

General

Our staff team has experience in supporting visitors to Oxcombe with physical, mental and neurodivergent additional needs. Please just let us know if you may need additional support, so we can make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
