The Cow Shed Event Barn
The Cow Shed is a muilti use space, perfect for conferencing and downtime space, the only place where clay isn’t welcome! With reclaimed wooden floorboards, wooden tables and benches made from Oxcombe timber, plus a woodburning stove, the Cow Shed is perfect for groups to hold away-from-it-all events. The floor to ceiling triple-glazed wall with views across the gardens ensures that you feel relaxed yet energised by being in the landscape. The walls may be lined with beautiful art work from time to time as available for exhibitions also.
Should you wish to hold a conference or offsite here, the room has a digital projector and wall-mounted screen, and plenty of moveable lightweight seating, the Cow Shed can be used for day-long or half-day sessions. It also makes a great party space, perhaps linked to a bespoke creative workshop to create a special event to remember.
We also hold weekly yoga sessions in the Cow Shed.

The Crew Yard - Art Barn
This spacious multi-purpose creativity space is the venue for all of our taster sessions and workshops as well as our weekly art classes. With plenty of table space plus 6 throwing wheels, it is a great place to work alongside new acquaintances and develop new skills. A floor-to-ceiling glazed wall provides lots of natural lighting and inspiring views. With underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove, the Crew Yard is perfect all year round, a fabulous environment for discovering your inner artist.

Top Pottery Studio
The original pottery space at Oxcombe, our Top Studio has hosted regular classes since 2014. With 5 throwing wheels, a large slab-roller and table space for ten, this studio is the home-from-home for regular attendees, some of which have been making work at Oxcombe for eight years or more, this studio is also used for non tutor led group studio sessions. An adjoining kiln room (with three electric kilns) ensures that attendees get a real insight into the process of transforming their handmade ceramics into bisque-fired and then glazed, finished products.
The Top Studio has disabled lavatory provision and and no steps to negotiate, making it a welcoming space for anyone with an ambulant disability. As with all our other studios, the room benefits from a (south-facing) glazed wall which ensures a light and airy environment all year round.

Oxcombe pottery experience and courses studio .
We offer workshops and courses and also one-to-one bespoke tuition, followed by time for you to focus on practising new skills, with plenty of natural light and airy open spaces with exposed timber beams.
The Church
There has been a church at Oxcombe since the xxth century, although the current building dates from 1840 when Oxcombe Manor and the church were both rebuilt. Now a deconsecrated building, visitors are welcome to visit and take a look inside. Like many of Lincolnshire’s churches, this is a tiny building intended for the family and workers associated with a manorial settlement. Oxcombe’s church has traditional box pews near the pulpit – for the owner and family – and wooden pews towards the rear of the church for farmworkers. The church can be booked for civil ceremony weddings.
Our Kilns
The process of making pottery depends on a two-firing process. Firstly the bone-dry clay is fired to 1000 degrees, and then fired for a second time to 1230 degrees once glaze has been applied. This creates stoneware pottery, making it extremely durable. Your finished work can be displayed in the garden all year round, or popped into the oven or freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
Oxcombe has lots of kilns available: six electric kilns of various sizes, one gas-fired reduction kiln and a raku kiln. We mostly use the electric kilns because they are programmable and produce reliable results. The reduction kiln (where oxygen is burned out from the atmosphere) is currently used to fire the Oxcombe Range, whilst the raku kiln enables us to offer occasional raku firing experiences.
