Finding your creative means of expression through drawing

This drawing masterclass would be a great way to get over the winter hibernation with a positive approach to creating art.

Drawing is an incredibly useful and versatile means of expression for creativity. Many people feel constrained by the belief that drawing must result in photo-realistic work, which can create a fear of putting pencil to paper. This masterclass aims to challenge that misconception, helping you to use drawing as the foundation for discovering your unique artistic style.

About the Artist

Dr Elizabeth Sherratt is a contemporary artist who blends traditional drawing and painting techniques with a modern perspective. With a doctorate in art and science, her primary method is to observe and draw from life. Through her equine art practice, Elizabeth employs a variety of mediums and techniques, adapting them to the unique characteristics of each horse she has the privilege to draw and paint, many of which are commissioned works.

Dr Elizabeth Sherratt is a professional artist with a thorough understanding of traditional drawing and painting techniques, which are the foundations of her practice. This knowledge enables her to use combinations of materials, techniques and surfaces that create a contemporary edge to her work. Dr Sherratt is excited to share her knowledge and skills with both beginners and more experienced artists.

The Masterclasses

“Once you learn and discover what different mediums and drawing and painting techniques can do to progress your practice, you will get to know what works for you on a practical and tangible level. My masterclasses are about doing, not discussing. To reveal the medium and subject matter that suits your practice. This will become apparent when you implement the most valuable skill that an artist can have curiosity. I want participants in my masterclass to develop the confidence to not rely on photographs or tracing images but to embrace their emotional response to creating art that matters to them.”  Dr Elizabeth Sherratt
