Date: Sunday 9th of May 2027
10.00am to 4.00pm
Andy with lead a hands-on day of glazing and then firing work using the Raku method. This traditional Japanese technique has its roots in the tea ceremony and Andy will share his knowledge of the Raku master potters and their skills.
You will be given two beautifully-thrown pots created by Andy to decorate under his expert tuition, and then experience the fast and furious transformation of this work into finished glazed pieces before your eyes. The process of plunging Raku ceramics into combustible material makes the most of the metallic elements to be found in the glazes, creating iridescent surfaces as well as crackle glazes that are hard to achieve any other way.
