Throwing Workshop

When is this workshop?

Various dates available, both evenings and weekends. All Throwing Workshops are expected to last around 2.5 hours.

What will I learn? 

In this Throwing Workshop, your tutor will give a detailed demonstration of throwing a cylinder on the potter’s wheel, with focus on centring the clay, and various techniques for pulling up the clay walls. This workshop is aimed to give you a strong foundation of the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel.

Who is this aimed at?

This workshop is aimed at those with no/ little previous throwing experience.

What will I take away?

At the end of this experience, you will choose 2 pieces which you would like us to fire. Our studio team will fire and glaze your pieces in a beautiful stoneware glaze, and they will be ready to collect from Oxcombe  5 weeks post-workshop. Extra pots and postage available at an additional cost.

 What do I need to bring?

Oxcombe provides aprons, towels etc, but please ensure you wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy. All refreshments included.

• Please ensure your safety within the ceramic studio environment and follow our health and safety guidelines.
• These sessions are aimed at adults, younger people 13+ may attend the workshop however are to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The Pottery Course will be held in the Stables Studio.
